Hi. Tell us your story in 3 sentences.
Jack: Hi, my name is Jack, I play guitar and sing in a Vienna based Rock’n’Roll band called REVEREND BACKFLASH.
In the last 10 years we have played gigs all over europe, released several 7inch, EPs and recently our second album EVERY NIGHT.
Tell us something about your album called EVERY NIGHT
Stevo: Our second album EVERY NIGHT (Burnside Records, 2013) contains everything we stand for – the classic sex, drugs n rock n roll, as well as the struggle with keepin up with everything that comes with it – and you get a front row ticket for a shotgun seat! It’s a mix of catchy punkrock-hymns and dirty rock anthems. Nuff said!
What is your “home ground” area? Tell us something about it
Jack: We are living in Vienna, Austria.
We dont have soooo much Rock’N’Roll, but it’s getting better and better.
There are a lot of smaller venues where you always can find interesting local and international acts.
It may not be the biggest city but you still can find some places to have fun even on a monday…
What’s the best live act in your area? tell us something about it
Jack: It’s of course my own band, REVEREND BACKFLASH! otherwise i would play in that other band that’s a better live act, don’t you think?!
Which artists have influenced your style & sound, if any?
Jack: We have been influenced mostly by punk music from the 70s, hardrock from the 80s and scandinavian Rock’n’Roll from the 90s.
Any favourite artists?
Jack: Theres not THE favourite band, but im gonna do a very quick selection.
I give you an example for every “genre” mentioned above.
What’s the last live music show you’ve seen?
Jack: It was in Vienna in a small club called BACH, a thursday i think.
I was watching the band of a friend, THE SINO HEARTS.
Its a very new band, it was their 2nd gig or so, but they did a nice job.
You guys should look them up ;)
Beatles or Rolling Stones?
Jack: I’m really sorry and my heart breaks during saying this, but i have to go with the Beatles.
It was kind of the first band i sat down to listen to when i was a kid.
And they have been with me since then. I really love the Stones too, no question about that.
But the Beatles have ment more to me personal … besides the fact that they are the freaking best songwriters in the world, HALLO?!
Tell us something about your best and your worst memory on the road
Jack: “Memories” and “on the road” two words you don’t often find in the same sentence but i’m going to give it a try.
One of the best ones must be playing Berlin for the second time in one year, spontaniously sharing stage with Texas Terri and getting a suprise visit from my girlfriend from Vienna the same night. Puh and the worst … What do you wanna hear? I’ve got them all, the “getting robbed story”, the “sleeping on concrete in the cold story”, the “not getting payed story”, of course the famous “not getting laid story” but for me as singer the biggest pain in the ass is the “getting sick and losing the voice story”.
I have been to the point where I got up in the morning and spat blood and then had to do a show in the evening. It works but it sucks.
Tell us something about your next tour
Stevo: “We’re very happy to play in italy again this weekend, 14th of november in Triest at TETRIS and on 15th at TWENTY-SEVEN in Bergamo, with the famous Off-Topic!
It really gives us the chills everytime we hook up on that damn bus to drive to other countries, cause rock n roll is on the streets!
After that we ll having some dates in austria ,
21.11. Graz, Wakuum
22.11. Klagenfurt, Park-Haus and
28.11. Vienna, at the Szene, as part of the SONIC HEARTBREAK FESTIVAL!)
and we’d like to thank Kornalcielo Booking for the big support!”
What do you think about LiveTrigger?
Jack: It’s a nice tool to meet people! And to do your booking faster.
Nowadays you have to do it all DIY. Noone’s gonna do it for you.
But bands should not forget that the music is the most important and not shirts, stickers or booking ;)
