Hi. Tell us something about Overcharge project.
Hello and thank you! The band was born during Summer 2012 and our intention was just to create something aligned to our taste and our idea of underground music. Technical skills, trends, experimentation, business or bullshits like these were never been considered as elements of our style.
Tell us something about your last musical production.
Our first and last full-lenght album is “Accelerate”, released on September 2014 through two US-based labels: Unspeakable Axe Records for the cd version and Dead Beat Records for the vinyl. Afterwards, Malaysian Hellforced Records took care of the tape version. We are 101% proud and satisfied of this release, thanx to the great professional work done at Šopa Studio (Czech Republic) with a very special engineer and friend like Stanislav Valàsek. In order to better explain what “Accelerate” is, we particularly appreciate a comment appeared on Metalinjection.net review: «A sleezy mash-up of speed-metal and punk, something appropriate to listen to while doing whip-its in your parents’ basement». We are now working of new material for our upcoming release.
Which artists have influenced your style & sound, if any?
I think we don’t have enough space on these web pages to list all of them! But of course it’s not a secret to mention some of our undisputed masters: Venom, GBH, Driller Killer, Exploited, Anti-Cimex, Disfear … and Motorhead, naturally.
On Livetrigger.com you define your genre: “punk”. What does it mean to be a punk band today?
The same as 40 years ago … the political and social context has “only” changed, but the message is not so different: Punk is still the sound of rebellion, of awareness, of cohesion and genuineness. And it’s across the board on all sort of musical crossovers, hybrid forms or re-interpretations during the last decades. You can’t not love it!
How is being a band from Varese – Italy? What’s the best live act in your area? Tell us something about it.
Ahah, it’s quite a crap… but I think everyone could say the same referring to its area or local scene !! Varese is one of the most notable Italian Right wing province throughout history and our “attitude” (I hate this term!) clashes day-by-day with its conformists and its middle-class-yokels! But a lot of young people try to do the best for something alternative and underground, about live music, cultural events or social issues.
I know you made lots of gigs in Italy in the past. Are you looking for gigs in the future? Do you plan to have a tour in the near future? Tell us something about it.
We have a full August agenda, with some gigs scheduled through Switzerland, France and Germany, including our participation in two great events like Kanivo Chaos Festival (between Auxerre and Dijon) and Meltdown Festival (close to Hamburg). Afterwards, an European tour is planned with Swiss streetpunx Hangover Generation for October.
What’s the best live music show you’ve seen recently?
Honestly, nothing so exciting…but some upcoming shows around here seem awesome! This must be a thrashing summer!
Tell us something about your best and your worst memory on the road.
One of the best shows and craziest after-party took place in Biel (Switzerland) at AKW, but the most of its description will surely be censored! About the worst … I don’t remember, I drank to forget, I think.
What do you think of Livetrigger.com? Do you think it could be a good tool to facilitate the process of booking and organizing shows? Do you have any suggestions?
In my opinion, all that can be useful to promote an artist as well as helping him to take a look around in order to know some other acts, venues, people or organizations, is absolutely good! So, what else to say? Good luck, Livetrigger!
