Hi. Tell us something about The Leeches project.
The Leeches were born in 2002 in Como, Italy! We picked the name from the movie “Stand by me”. We started as a trio, now we are 4 musicians (me Massi, Mone, Mexicano and Freddy). During these years we did 4 records and a lot of gigs! But most of all we had so much fun, eating, playing and dreamin’!
Tell us something about “Underwater”, your last album, produced by Daniel Rey.
What can i say? Great time and great man! We recorded 13 songs with Daniel, it was a plesaure and a dream to work with this gentle and funny man! He came from NY to stay 10 days in Milan, closed in a studio with us… he is a great producer and a great worker too!
I know you’ve made lots of gigs in Italy in the past and now you are going to have your first tour in the U.S.A.. When will you start it? How many gigs did you book?
We’ll start in Seattle and we’ll end in San diego! 9 gigs in 11 days! I can’t wait! I hope Americans will love and understand our crazy idea of rock’n’roll!
What are the differences in the way you book shows in Europe and in North America? Is there any difference in professionalism, organization etc.? Is it hard for a European band to book shows in the States?
During the years we played a lot of shows with U.S bands, so when we planned the tour we used some of these contacts… but the idea of the tour came out from Dario, a good friend of us! He lives in Seattle now and he really helped us with some shows… so thanks Dario and Damien and Matt!
On Livetrigger.com you define your genre: “punk rock”. What does it mean to be a punk rock band today?
That’s a good question! Punk rock: play loud, fast and noisy music with a little bit of melody, trying to be kind with the good ones and evil with the rest!
Which artists have influenced your style & sound, if any?
Too many monsters! Alice cooper, Iggy and the Stooges, the Dictators, the Cheap Trick, the Adverts (70′), Angry Samoans, Adolescents, Descendents, TSOL, Bad Religion, Hard Ons (80′), Devil Dogs, Dwarves, Queers (90′)… And too many others……
How is being a musician from Cantù – Italy? What’s the best live act in your area? Tell us something about it.
Being a musican in cantù is the same as being a musician in Fargo, Valencia or Katmandu, I think! It’s a joke : ) I really don’t know how it is… my favorite band in our area are the Temporal Sluts, a legend here in Brianza!
What’s the best live music show you’ve seen recently?
The Temporal Sluts : ) and Frank Turner and…… The Dictators NYC…. but the winners are……the Seditius! : ) Abbo the drummer is incredible!!!!!!
Tell us something about your best and your worst memory on the road.
The worst: I remember that one time in Sardinia when we played in a resort in front of some English, German and French tourist that couldn’t care less… they looked at us as if we were aliens… was funny after all… the best moment is still to come… maybe our next gig in Seattle?
What do you think of Livetrigger.com? Do you think it could be a good tool to facilitate the process of booking and organizing shows? Do you have any suggestions? Did you try to use Livetrigger.com to book your shows?
I never tried Livetrigger until now…. but I think is a great idea and a good way to book shows and plan tours! I’ll use it for sure in the future!
