Hi RayMorgana. Can you introduce your musical project to our readers?
We are a cinematic band from the Dominican Republic, pirates in the search of new adventures. We love to travel and the best way for us is music, we know is the right way when the chills possess our skin. The name RayMorgana is the fusion of the names Raymond Jaquez and Jeimy Morgana the lead singers and producers of the band.
Where did you get inspiration for your music? Tell us something about it.
We are big fan of the film industry in general, we are both actors, Raymond is a film composer and voiceover for trailers and documentaries, in general our music is the interpretation of the way we feel the world, cultures, people and situation but in an epic way… Yes we are obsessed with epic films, so in many of our songs we always inject the epic felling, even if the song is just an electronic piece you feel the bass drums and French horns sensation behind everything.
Which artists have influenced your style & sound, if any?
What’s the best place to play live music in your country?
As RayMorgana we produced a music theatre type of show for the closing night of the DR Global Film Festival in the National Theatre of Santo Domingo, a really powerful and unforgettable experience… Anyway we have to say that this is a hard question for us because just recently we decided to take RayMorgana out of movies and internet and play live shows, but we had the experience of playing with other project in Hard Rock Café, Camden and Cinema Café, they are good places for live Indie and alternative music projects
What’s the best live music show you’ve seen recently?
The fantastic French band General Elektrics gave an amazing performance at The Music Fest in the Colonial Zone of Santo Domingo near to our studio. We had such a great time with friends that day.
Are you touring right now? Do you plan to have a tour in the next future?
Right now we are finishing the recording, mixing and mastering of our 2nd album at the RayMorgana Studio, at the same time we are preparing everything to start a tour around October. Right now we are also very proud to present the first video of the 2nd album with the song Acuarela in our Youtube channel!
Tell us something about your best and your worst memory on the road.
Until now the only one is the closing night show we mentioned before. The best was to deal with almost 50 people, to organize the wardrobe, dancers, technicians and deliver a 5 minutes performance for live TV in a theatre in front of international film industry professionals.
The worst was that in the show I (Raymond) had a moment when I was flying with a harness and in the highest point there was a metal sound coming from the roof and my body fell like 4cm. When the show was over, the technician told me the harness was about to break. Well I’m still alive jajaja
What do you think of Livetrigger.com? Do you think it could be a good tool to facilitate the process of booking and organizing shows? Do you have any suggestions?
I really think is a treasure to have a magazine supporting the alternative scene of music worldwide and yes is a great tool to make success possible for the alternative music scene. Team work between the magazine and artists is the key.
